Casina

History

Among the houses that once formed the population of Strabatenza, the Casina del Ponte is the one with the most recent history. The house was built by Giovanni Versari in 1923, as written on the stone plaque on the facade, and there he lived with his wife Adele and his son Sante. Following the death of Giovanni, occurred in 1940, his wife and his son left the house. Later, Giuseppe Milanesi and his wife Edvige settled there. During World War II, the couple hosted two New Zealand soldiers for almost two months. Giuseppe, who was a mailman, and his wife, left the Casina around 1960. After years of oblivion, the house was found in dilapidated conditions; the Casina has been restored and has now come back to life.
